Privacy policy
In one sentence: Sports Counter collects no personal data. The developer owns no server. Your teams and settings stay on your computer; the app only asks ESPN for scores, Google for translations and GitHub for its updates, with no identifier.
Who is responsible
Sports Counter is developed by Médéric Do, independent developer. For any question: dev.pnyx.appstore@gmail.com.
What the app keeps on your computer
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Your picks (leagues, teams, players, drivers, fighters) |
Know which games to show and when to notify you. | On your computer only. |
| Your settings (theme, size, shortcuts, notifications…) |
Keep the app the way you left it. | On your computer only. |
| Sports data cache (scores, schedules, standings, translations) |
Start faster and use less bandwidth. | On your computer only. It expires by itself over time. |
| Window position | Put the widget back in the same place next time. | On your computer only. |
If you turn on “start with Windows”, the app adds itself to the programs launched when you sign in. This can be turned off in the settings.
What the app sends, and to whom
Sports Counter sends nothing to a developer server, because none exists. Three external services are used:
ESPN (scores and stats)
To show scores, the app queries ESPN's public interface and loads logos and photos from its image servers. Requests only contain what's needed to get the data: the requested league, team or game. As with any web page, ESPN receives your connection's IP address. See The Walt Disney Company (ESPN) privacy policy. The “Ouvrir sur ESPN” button simply opens the game page in your browser.
Google Translate
If translation is on (it is by default), English play descriptions — for example “Caufield Goal, assists: Suzuki” — are sent to Google Translate. These texts come from ESPN and contain no information about you. See the Google privacy policy. Turn translation off in the settings and nothing is sent to Google anymore.
GitHub (updates)
The app regularly checks GitHub for a new version, and downloads the installer if you accept the update. Every update is signed: the app refuses any version whose signature doesn't match. See the GitHub privacy statement.
No other third party. Sports Counter includes no analytics, no ads, no trackers, no third-party SDK. There is no advertising identifier, no profiling, no account.
What is never done
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data. With anyone.
- No account to create: no email, no password, no identifier.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No data sent to a developer server — none exists.
Retention and deletion
Your picks and settings stay on your computer as long as the app is installed. The sports data cache expires by itself (from minutes to days depending on the data). Uninstalling the app removes the program; to also erase your settings, delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\com.mede2026.sports-counter folder if it is still there.
Children
Sports Counter does not knowingly collect any data about children. Since no data is collected at all, this question is no different for them.
Your rights
Privacy laws, such as Quebec's Law 25 or the GDPR in Europe, give rights of access, correction and deletion over data held by a controller. The developer holds none of your data: there is nothing to request or delete on their side. The data stays under your direct control, on your computer.
Security
All the app's connections (ESPN, Google, GitHub) are encrypted (HTTPS). Updates are verified by signature before being installed.
Changes
Any change to this policy will be published on this page, with the update date. A significant change will be mentioned in the app's release notes.
