Frequently asked questions
- Do I need an API key to dictate? Cloud providers (Groq, OpenAI, Google) require your own API key. You can also do everything fully on-device, with no key: pick Apple Speech transcription and Apple Intelligence in a mode.
- Why does the keyboard ask for "Full Access"? To bridge the keyboard to the app (dictate without switching apps) and run AI transforms on your selection with your key. No keystroke is logged or sent to a server.
- Where is my data stored? Your dictations, notes, and settings stay on your device; your API keys in the iOS Keychain. See the privacy policy.
- A cloud dictation fails (VPN / filtered network)? If the network is up but the provider is blocked, Pnyx automatically re-transcribes on-device, using the fallback model of your choice (Settings → Fallback model). Offline, the dictation is queued and resumes once the network returns.
- I deleted a prompt by mistake? It stays in the Trash (Settings → Prompts → Trash) for 30 days: you can restore it anytime before it's permanently deleted.
- Remove my entry from the world leaderboard? Change your nickname anytime on the Leaderboard screen; for full removal, email us at the address above.
