Frequently asked questions
- Why does the speed show “--”? Because the GPS has no reliable reading yet. The app would rather show nothing than a wrong number. Once the signal is good the speed appears — and reads 0 when you are stopped.
- The temperature stays empty. It comes from WeatherKit, which needs a connection and a valid location. Without a network the value stays “--” and the rest of the app works normally.
- Do I have to start a session to see my data? No. Speed, altitude, heading and G-force appear as soon as you open the app. A session is what records the track and the statistics.
- What is the difference between Normal and Ski mode? Only Ski mode splits the outing into runs and lifts. Riding up then down a hill by bike or car isn't skiing, so the app doesn't invent it.
- Barometer or GPS for altitude? The barometer is far more accurate for vertical (±1 m against ±10–20 m). But in a plane the cabin is pressurised and it becomes wrong: the app detects this and offers to switch to GPS. The setting can also be changed at any time.
- Does recording stop when the screen turns off? No. The app keeps going in the background through location updates, and on Apple Watch through a workout session.
- My watch sessions don't show up on iPhone. Sync goes through iCloud: check that both devices use the same Apple Account and that iCloud sync is on for the app. Upload happens as soon as the watch finds Wi-Fi or the iPhone.
- On iPad? Wi-Fi-only models have no GPS: no speed, no track. Cellular models work, except for barometric altitude — no iPad has a barometer, so the app uses GPS.
- Does the app speak during navigation? No. Apple gives turn-by-turn voice guidance to no third-party app. Manoeuvres are shown on screen.
- Spotify music doesn't appear. The app reads Apple's system player, the only one third-party apps can access. A third-party player isn't visible.
